Biography

Bing was born on an island in Indonesia and grew up in a Taiwanese household going to an international school. He has an undergraduate degree in ecology and evolutionary biology, and spent several years after college teaching English (Bangsak, Thailand), scuba-dive guiding (Khao Lak, Thailand), doing primate behavioral research (Guassa, Ethiopia), conducting coral reef health assessments (Cabrits, Dominica), and hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (CA and the PNW, United States). Now, Bing is a Ph.D. candidate in the Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy program in SPIA pursuing research at the intersection of conservation ecology, environmental policy, and the behavioral sciences in coral reef socio-ecological systems. Among many things, Bing loves soccer, snowboarding, squash, wildlife photography, audiobooks, and [extinct] giant ground sloths.
