Biography

Edward Freeland has worked in the field of survey research and polling for more than 35 years. He is currently the Executive Director of the Princeton University Survey Research Center and a Lecturer at the School of Public and International Affairs where he teaches undergraduate and graduate seminars on social science research methods. Before coming to Princeton, Dr. Freeland was a Senior Research Director in the Social and Policy Research group at Response Analysis in Princeton, NJ, and from 1992-96, he was a Survey Director at Mathematica Policy Research where he supervised large-scale research studies conducted for the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Department of Labor. From 1989-1992, he served as a Program and Policy Analyst for the New York City Housing Vacancy Survey. Dr. Freeland received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University in 1992, his M.A. in Sociology from the University of Virginia in 1983 and his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Connecticut in 1981.
