The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) supports all admitted students with full funding.

One reason we invest in our students is so that they can invest in others by returning to careers of public service after Princeton.

We also want to ensure students can commit their time and energy to fully participating in the academic and social life at SPIA and at Princeton.

We fully fund all graduate students with 100% of tuition and required fees which includes health insurance for the length of their program—two years for the MPA, one year for the mid-career MPP, and five years for the PhD.

How does this work?

If you are admitted, you get the money, full stop. There is no separate application or essay. It is not a loan, and it is not dependent on or linked to a campus job. Our full funding is for everyone, both domestic and international students.

In addition, we offer a generous stipend to cover your living expenses.

If you come with any outside funding, the SPIA will top that up to our rates.

If you think you might be eligible for an application fee waiver, please consult the Graduate School’s fee waiver page for more details, eligibility information, and instructions.

Our students are committed to lives of service. Our generous funding allows students to fully embrace their experience at the School as well as step into impactful leadership roles and careers of service once they depart.

Princeton’s informal motto, “In the Nation’s Service and the Service of Humanity” is at the core of all we do. If this resonates with you, we hope you will consider applying to Princeton SPIA.
