Emile Esmaili

Emile is a Ph.D. candidate in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy (STEP) at Princeton University, advised by Professors Michael Oppenheimer and Filiz Garip. His research interests include climate migration, the societal impacts of climate change, and the development of quantitative methods to address these challenges. Before joining Princeton, Emile was a researcher at Columbia University and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), where he worked on improving subseasonal rainfall forecasts using deep learning, investigated the links between climate and food security in Early Modern Europe, and developed statistical models of human migration. He holds bachelor's degrees in economics from Paris-Dauphine/PSL and in mathematics from Sorbonne Université. He also earned a master’s degree in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (QMSS) from Columbia University.
