Beatrice Fihn received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) for its work leading to the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. After a decade leading ICAN, in 2023 she founded and since then has directed Lex International Fund, a philanthropy working to make international law and diplomacy more effective on nuclear weapons, autonomous weapons, and related global security threats.
The Bruce Blair Memorial Lecture is organized by Princeton University's Program on Science and Global Security. It honors the life and work of Bruce Blair (1947-2020), distinguished scholar and leader of the global nuclear disarmament movement, and a member of the Program on Science and Global Security. The lecture series aims to advance understanding of the risks of nuclear weapons and policies to end them.
