Allison Carruth is a Professor in the Effron Center for the Study of America and the High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton, where she directs the Program in Environmental Studies. She is the co-founder and faculty director of Blue Lab and was the founding director of UCLA’s Lab for Environmental Narrative Strategies (LENS). Her fields of research and teaching encompass the environmental humanities, ecomedia and science and technology studies. Over the past fifteen years, her scholarship and creative practice have aimed to bridge the work of environmental imagination and that of the natural sciences. She is the author of three books, most recently Novel Ecologies: Nature Remade and the Illusions of Tech (U Chicago 2025).  She is currently at work on a new book provisionally titled The Ocean Remade.
