The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination (LISD) invites members of the Princeton University community to a lecture and High Tea featuring David M. Beasley, former Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) and former Governor of the state of South Carolina on May 10, 2023 at 4:00 pm. Mr. Beasley will be in conversation with Wolfgang Danspeckgruber, Founding Director of LISD, about critical issues of global food and water security in today’s crisis-prone world. Participants are encouraged to ask questions during a Q&A session following the lecture. Mr. Beasley was Executive Director of the WFP from April 2017 until April 2023. During his tenure, he restructured the WFP and raised over $50 billion to enable this UN organization to feed nearly 400 million people. Mr. Beasley will discuss global challenges to food supply, and lessons learned from his leadership of the WFP. A biography of Mr. Beasley is available for further reading.
This event will be held in the Cyril Black Seminar Room (019 Bendheim Hall). Tea will be served at 4:45 pm, with time for discussion until 6:00 pm. Please RSVP to lischwar@princeton.edu if you plan to attend.
