Biography

Sarah Gold is a postdoctoral research associate at The Bendheim-Thoman Center for Research on Child Wellbeing. She earned her Phd in Social Work from Rutgers University in 2018. Her research broadly focuses on understanding how policies impact poverty and inequality among children and families in the United States. In particular, she examines how childhood contexts impact outcomes in adolescence and adulthood and how these contexts are informed by policy. Her research has been published in journals including The Journal of Marriage and FamilySocial Service Review, and Health Affairs. She is currently working on several projects including exploring whether families' financial wellbeing differs depending on state-level policy variation (in safety net, employment, and tax policy) and a collaboration with Dr. Kathryn Edin and two community-based organizations in Trenton, NJ examining the intersection of place-based affordable housing and health.
