Biography
Shauna M. Murray is serving as Temporary Project Coordinator for the Institutional Antiracism and Accountability (IARA) Project during a period of staff leave, working in close collaboration with IARA Director Professor Khalil Gibran Muhammad. In this role, she supports the project’s day-to-day operations while advancing coordination across research, programming, and external partnerships that contribute to IARA’s work on institutional change and antiracist accountability.
Shauna is a Ph.D. student in Global Inclusion and Social Development in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she is also pursuing a graduate certificate in Survey Methods. With more than 15 years of experience, her work sits at the intersection of research, policy, and practice, spanning health, education, and social protection systems in both domestic and international contexts.
Bringing a transdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach, Shauna has led and supported community-based research, public sector systems strengthening, and inclusive policy initiatives across the United States, the Caribbean, and East Africa. She has held leadership and coordination roles within university centers, international NGOs, and multilateral partnerships, with a consistent focus on participatory methods, equity-centered implementation, and translating evidence into actionable change.
Shauna’s work emphasizes collaboration across disciplines and sectors, accountability to communities, and the practical application of research to advance social and racial equity. Her personal and professional commitments are shaped by migration histories and a long-standing dedication to inclusion, justice, and systems-level transformation.
