Career Development
SPIA graduates build careers that move across sectors and borders, united by a commitment to public service and leadership. They serve in federal, state and local governments, nonprofits, international organizations, journalism, and the private sector—anywhere thoughtful, ethical policy work is needed.
From the moment they arrive at SPIA, graduate students receive individualized career support to help them launch or advance meaningful work in public service. The Graduate Career Development team is a hands‑on partner as students explore experiential learning opportunities, pursue internships, and secure full‑time roles aligned with their goals.
SPIA’s active alumni community—leaders shaping policy conversations and implementation around the world—also plays a vital role. Alumni regularly offer mentorship, insight, and connections that help students navigate their next steps.
