Adel Mahmoud, professor of molecular biology and public affairs at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Case Western Reserve University.

A leading expert on vaccine development and infectious diseases in the developing world, Mahmoud has garnered awards and recognitions in tropical medicine research and international health policy.
Mahmoud previously served as president of Merck Vaccines, a management committee member for Merck Co., chairman of medicine at Case Western's School of Medicine and physician-in-chief at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Mahmoud will be a panelist at the upcoming Princeton-Fung Global Forum on "Modern Plagues: Lessons Learned from the Ebola Crisis." This year's forum on global health will focus on the current Ebola crisis as a critical case study of a modern plague.
