Aleksandra Korolova, an assistant professor of computer science and public affairs, has been elected to the new council of the International Association for Safe and Ethical Artificial Intelligence (IASEAI). She previously served on IASEAI’s interim council, which helped guide the organization through its early growth and prepare for the transition to an elected leadership body.
Elke Weber, a professor of psychology and public affairs and the Gerhard R. Andlinger Professor in Energy and the Environment, has been reappointed to the External Faculty of the Santa Fe Institute (SFI). The three-year renewal appointment runs from August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2029. Appointment to the External Faculty recognizes Weber’s many contributions to science and to SFI’s research, education, and outreach efforts. External Faculty are considered a critical and integral part of the Institute, and members are encouraged to participate broadly in SFI’s intellectual life, including visits and collaborations, involvement with the postdoc program, and participation in meetings and education programs.
Hye Young You, an associate professor of politics and public affairs, organized three international conferences in Seoul and Copenhagen with support from Princeton SPIA. The events brought scholars together from around the world to present new research, exchange ideas, and build connections across institutions and countries.
On June 9, You organized the Princeton–Seoul National University Summer Institute in Political Science at Seoul National University (SNU). Launched in 2024, the Institute is designed to strengthen academic exchange between scholars in the United States and South Korea and to build sustained connections between Princeton and SNU.
You also organized the inaugural Seoul Political Economy Conference (SPEC) in collaboration with Seoul National University’s Department of Economics and Center for Redistributive Justice. The annual conference aims to make Seoul a regular meeting place for political economists from South Korea and abroad, facilitating intellectual exchange and new research collaborations.
Finally, You co-organized the CBS–Princeton Money in Politics Conference at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). Launched in 2024, the conference brings together an international and interdisciplinary community studying money in politics, lobbying, campaign finance, political connections, business and politics, and related topics. Princeton University representatives at this year’s conference included faculty members Nolan McCarty and Gleason Judd, current and former graduate students, and representatives from the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics and the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance.
