Anitra Rechner
Biography
Anitra is fascinated by complex public policy questions. After completing degrees in science and law, she joined the Australian foreign service, undertaking a posting to London and a short-term mission to Beirut. Since 2008, Anitra has focused on climate change policy at both international and domestic levels. From 2008 to 2012 she represented Australia in the United Nations climate negotiations – including through the Copenhagen conference and its aftermath. She then led review work for the Climate Change Authority – an independent body established to provide expert advice to the Australian Government on climate targets and actions. Anitra now works for the Victorian Government developing emissions reduction policies and, most recently, ensuring pandemic recovery packages align with the State’s climate change objectives.
