Born in Coimbatore, India, and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Achinthya studied world politics and economic development at The Ohio State University. She has worked on a range of policy issues in the Unites States and India through civil society organizations and the legal system, politics and movement building, and private philanthropy. Most recently, Achinthya supported policy and advocacy work for the agricultural development and climate adaptation programs at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She’s interested in global development, climate adaptation, tech and media policy, progressive politics, and the history of political economy. She hopes to work out where exactly all these ideas meet during her time at Princeton. In her free time, she enjoys baking cakes, rewatching Broad City, and speaking and thinking in Tamil and Malayalam.
