Biography
Chang-Boong was born and raised in Sungai Siput, Malaysia. As a first-generation college graduate, his gratitude towards his family's socioeconomic mobility inspired his interest in public service. In his final year of college, he interned with the German Development Finance Institution (DEG) in Indonesia, and the experience convinced him that finance, when integrated with environmental and social accountability, could be a powerful tool to advance development and address challenges such as climate change. Hence, Chang-Boong joined Securities Commission Malaysia for three years as a policy analyst focusing on bond market development and regulation. Further, he helped promote sustainable finance in Malaysia and Southeast Asia through initiatives including the development of Malaysia’s five-year sustainable finance blueprint and the ASEAN Green Bond Standards. He completed his MPA summer internship with CPCS, a global infrastructure consulting firm specializing in power, transport, and public-private partnerships (PPP). In the future, Chang-Boong aspires to be a global leader in sustainable finance and infrastructure development. He credits shonen anime for motivating and inspiring him through ups and downs, besides his beloved family, friends, and mentors.
