Biography

Evan is an experienced activist and civil servant joining the SPIA MPA class of 2024. Hailing from the Chicagoland area, he last served as senior manager of capacity building in the NYC Mayor’s Office, where he directed a team overseeing several community-facing initiatives. One such initiative, NYC Civic Impact Funding, distributed more than 1.5 million pounds of food to 200,000+ vulnerable New Yorkers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this work, Evan served as an advisor at the NYC Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity, and held positions in both the Massachusetts Governor’s Office and the White House. Evan was elected to serve his community as a voting member of the Queens County Committee in 2018 and again in 2020, and has organized on several progressive political campaigns including Bernie 2020 and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s 2018 campaign for the U.S. House. A first-generation college graduate, he earned his B.A. in political science at Amherst College and studied philosophy, politics, and economics abroad at New College at the University of Oxford.
