II - International Development Scripps College, 2013 Economics/Politics and International Relations, B.A.

Biography

Born and raised in Ipoh, Malaysia, Evelyn spent an eye-opening final two years of high school at the United World College in Hong Kong, before attending Scripps College and earning a B.A. with honors in economics and politics. During her four years in consulting at Analysis Group and Bain and Company, she worked with U.S. tribal councils, Asia Pacific multinational firms, global nonprofits, national oil companies, and entrepreneurs to build and execute their growth strategies. She then pivoted from (Excel) modeling to malaria elimination, joining Clinton Health Access Initiative and partnering with southeast Asian governments to strengthen public sector malaria case management. Evelyn worked this past summer as a service delivery innovation intern with The World Bank in their Health, Nutrition, and Population global practice. Her time in nonprofit ignited an interest to contribute to a more global-South-led, holistic, and inclusive approach to development, and she hopes to develop stronger policy analysis skills during her time at SPIA to pursue this path post-graduation. In her free time, Evelyn enjoys exploring cities, manicured nature (urban parks, day hikes) and practicing Brazilian Portuguese.
