Georgios Panagiotidis

Giorgos is a Greek career diplomat with nearly two decades of experience at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Over the course of his career, he has worked on United Nations and European Union affairs, bilateral relations with Latin American countries, regional issues involving the Western Balkans, and human rights. His diplomatic postings have included serving as Consul of Greece in Atlanta and deputy head of mission at the Greek embassies in Brasília and Mexico City. He also served as a special adviser on foreign policy to the Greek Prime Minister and represented Greece in several European Union working groups and negotiations. Giorgos is a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international economic relations and development from Democritus University of Thrace and a master’s degree in international shipping, finance and management from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Earlier in his career, he completed internships at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva and in the banking sector in Greece. Outside work, Giorgos spends most of his time trying to keep up with his two young children, usually with mixed success. Whatever energy remains is devoted to tennis, football, running and, increasingly, catching up on reading while recovering from sports-related injuries. After SPIA, he plans to return to the Greek Foreign Service with a renewed focus on diplomacy, public policy and security.
