Johana De la Cruz Gamez
Biography
Johana has spent the majority of the last eight years living in Washington, D.C. As an undergraduate at American University, she earned a degree in international studies with a concentration in the global economy and international development. Most recently, she was an associate manager at an international development nonprofit implementing USAID and USDA-funded programs. During her almost five-year tenure, Johana provided project management support to programs in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe. She also collaborated on gender and social inclusion initiatives, including a program providing technical assistance on women’s empowerment to USAID, Missions, and implementing partners. She completed her summer internship with First 5 LA, a nonprofit child-advocacy organization in Los Angeles. Originally born to Cuban parents, Johana spent her formative years living in different countries around the globe, which influences her perspective towards public service.
