Julia Herrle
Biography
Julia was born and raised in Wexford, Pennsylvania. A member of the 2023 SINSI cohort, Julia graduated magna cum laude from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs in 2019 with certificates in environmental studies and in values and public life. Julia is interested in global food security policy and the interactions among food insecurity, environmental issues, and conflict. In 2017, Julia conducted research on improving resiliency of agriculture in Himalayan mountain villages at Bioversity International in Nepal, and interned in the Office of Global Food Security at the State Department in 2018. She returned to the State Department in 2020, this time to the Africa Bureau, for her first rotation as a SINSI graduate fellow. She then finished her rotation at the Department of Defense, Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Humanitarian Assistance, Disaster Response, and Global Health Engagement. In her spare time, Julia loves hiking, cooking, and reading mystery novels.
