Joe graduated from Princeton with an undergraduate degree in history. He was lucky enough to receive the Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative (SINSI) scholarship to the School of Public and International Affairs – which means two more years in the Best Old Place of All. In college, he spent an eventful summer abroad in Russia studying the language, and interned for several government agencies (including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York). He also helped lead Vote100, Princeton's civic engagement organization.
