Jiwon Seol
Biography
Jiwon is from Seoul, the Republic of Korea. She graduated from Seoul National University with a major in economics and a minor in international relations. While at university, she participated in the 2010 G20 Summit as a youth delegate and it was an eyeopener for her in the area where economic challenges intersect with international affairs. Upon graduating, she served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea beginning in 2015. In the summer prior to joining Princeton, she continued her work in the Ministry, Division for North America Affairs. Her main portfolio was promoting bilateral relations between the ROK and the U.S., and formulating the Indo-Pacific strategy of Korea. She enthusiastically participated in two Summit meetings between the ROK and U.S. in 2021 and 2022. She is planning to return to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after her study at Princeton. She hopes to make further contributions to the public scene based on economic insights trained in Princeton as economic measures are often utilized for attaining political purposes in the international society. Sports are her best way to relieve stress. She enjoys swimming, tennis, and pilates and loves to learn new sports.
