John McCaslin
Biography
Jack grew up in Ohio, Germany, Russia, and Poland before attending Colgate University in upstate New York. There, he majored in international relations and minored in Russian and Eurasian studies. During summers, he worked at the U.S. embassies in Moscow and New Delhi. Following internships in the U.S. House of Representatives, Jack began working at the Council on Foreign Relations as a research associate for the Africa program. He researched West African security and politics, and contributed to a book on the legacy of colonialism in Nigeria. At SPIA, Jack is concentrating on U.S. foreign policy, climate change, and environmental issues. This past summer, he served as a Harold W. Rosenthal Fellow in International Relations with the United States Department of Defense. In his free time, Jack enjoys basketball, movie nights, and buying sustainable things from incredibly well-targeted Instagram ads.
