Biography

Lea comes to Princeton from Washington, D.C., where she worked in criminal justice reform policy at the Center for American Progress (CAP). She proudly served as President of the CAP Employees Union and worked to raise wages and improve working conditions for nonprofit workers. At CAP, her research focused on progressive policy solutions to shrink the footprint of the criminal justice system. Prior to that, Lea worked in former Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) office and interned for the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee. This past summer, she interned for the City of Chicago in the Office of the Mayor. Lea graduated summa cum laude from the University of Utah, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Lea was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is passionate about the outdoors and cooking and eating great food.
