Liam Maguire
Biography
Liam is from Braintree, Massachusetts, and is interested in the intersections of diplomacy, development, and humanitarian response. This interest motivated his undergraduate degree in international studies at Boston College. Upon graduation, he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Namibia for two years, where he taught English, facilitated PEPFAR-funded youth development and health workshops, and worked with community stakeholders to expand local water infrastructure. Afterward, Liam joined USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, where he supported the Office of Africa’s grant portfolios addressing humanitarian needs in Northern Ethiopia and Northeast Nigeria, as well as broad strategic planning and learning initiatives. In his spare time, Liam can be found hiking, biking, volleyballing, humming a show tune, or seeking out new foods to eat.
