Biography

Nong was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in law. She also holds a master’s degree in law from University of California, Berkeley. Prior to coming to Princeton, she worked with UNDP China for more than three years, where she cooperated with public and private sectors of China to contribute to international development cooperation and solve development challenges including climate change, COVID, poverty alleviation, etc. She managed and supported projects in countries across Asia and Africa, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao DPR, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Zimbabwe. She also worked with local think tanks to conduct policy research to map China’s pathway to carbon peak and neutrality. Before that, Nong was a legal counsel of Greenpeace East Asia, providing legal support to environment and climate campaigns of Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei offices. At Princeton, Nong seeks to strengthen her policy analysis skills with a focus on international development. In her free time, Nong enjoys reading, music, cooks and photographing.
