Pravinya Papammagari

Pravinya is a career civil servant in the Indian Administrative Service with nearly a decade of experience in urban governance, public administration, and infrastructure development. With a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, she has served in several key administrative roles in rural and urban areas in the State of Telangana, India. As the District Collector and Magistrate of Warangal, Hanumakonda and Sangareddy districts, consisting of over one million residents each, Pravinya served as the chief executive and administrative head overseeing socio-economic development initiatives, elections, disaster response, and delivery of public services especially in sectors like health and education. Prior to that, she managed the nearly INR 1,000 crore Smart City Infrastructure development project as Municipal Commissioner of Warangal City and also helped navigate Hyderabad city through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 urban floods. Her professional interests lie in sustainable urbanization, infrastructure planning, and creating more inclusive, resilient cities. During the summer, Pravinya served as Special Secretary in the Roads and Buildings Department of the Government of Telangana, India, monitoring the implementation of major public infrastructure projects, including national highways, healthcare facilities, government buildings, and transportation networks, while preparing for a year of study at Princeton. Outside of work, she enjoys trekking, reading fiction, and painting. Upon graduation, she hopes to return to public service in India with new perspectives on urban policy, governance, and development, helping shape cities and communities that are both economically vibrant and socially inclusive.
