Biography

Cara was raised across the United States, Spain and France before attending Dartmouth College, where she majored in government and classical studies. After completing speechwriting internships with the United Nations and the European Union at the height of the Syrian refugee crisis, Cara spent a year in Colombia, where she taught English to university students and interviewed former FARC members on a Fulbright grant. Invigorated by what she’d witnessed of the Colombian peace process, she joined the Council on Foreign Relations as a writer on Latin American security and politics, and hopes to delve further into security studies, conflict mitigation, non-state violence, and migration issues while at Princeton. She interned this summer with the State Department, in the economic section of the U.S. Embassy in Peru. In her free time, Cara enjoys long-distance running, hiking, and hosting.
