Rafael Rodrigues Soares

Rafael is a diplomat at Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After graduating in Law, he pursued a postgraduate preparation course at Brazil's Diplomatic Academy, from 2008 to 2009. Subsequently, Rafael worked at Brazil’s Presidency of the Republic, at its former Secretariat for Human Rights, from 2010 to 2013. At his first posting abroad, he served as a delegate to the United Nations Human Rights Council, from 2013 to early 2017. Rafael also worked at Brazil’s Consulate General in Mexico, from 2017 to 2020, his last assignment before joining Princeton’s MPP. It is his view that the program will both help consolidate his work and study experience, and open new possibilities in academia.
