Saud Abumelha
Biography
Saud holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and has built a distinguished career in finance and international relations. Beginning as a credit officer specializing in industrial project financing, Saud transitioned to a pivotal role within the Saudi G20 Finance Track team under Saudi Arabia's G20 presidency. During this tenure, Saud was part of the team that successfully launched the G20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI), which benefited more than 72 countries and delivered about $12.9 billion in debt service suspension to the most vulnerable as an international effort to combat the economic consequences of COVID-19. Currently, as the Director of the International Financial Institutions Department at the Ministry of Finance, Saud manages critical files related to the G20, IMF, and the World Economic Forum. In his capacity as Deputy’s deputy of the G20 Finance Track representing Saudi Arabia on numerous international platforms, Saud is a governance committee member at the Multilateral Center for Development Finance, striving for more inclusivity of energy reforms and for the implementation of innovative solutions to vulnerable needs. Additionally, Saud played a pivotal role in finalizing the Chad case under the Common Framework for Debt Treatments and is a member of the Concessional Financing Advisory Group at the IMF.
