Biography

Spencer is originally from the Toledo, Ohio, area. He is passionate about using evidence to improve people’s lives. Before beginning graduate school, he worked at J-PAL North America for three years where he built research partnerships with government health agencies and nonprofits, developed communications strategies, and supported the scale ups of evidence-based education programs. Prior to J-PAL North America, Spencer worked for two years at the ONE Campaign on what ONE's co-founder Bono called the “factivist” team, providing the policy arguments for global campaigns that raised billions in anti-poverty funding. He has also worked at the World Bank and Partners in Health. This past summer, he completed his MPA internship working as a consulant with The Bridgespan Group in Boston. Spencer holds a MicroMasters in Data, Economics, and Development Policy from MIT and graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University. At Princeton, he hopes to learn more about the social safety net.
