Samantha is dedicated to a career crafting science-based ocean management policy that leverages novel technologies. She has over five years of experience in ocean nonprofits. In 2017, she became a founding member of Global Fishing Watch, a nonprofit that aims to advance ocean governance through increased transparency of human activity at sea with satellite and machine learning technology. Samantha is the founder of Team Ocean NYC, a network to encourage connections between ocean professionals in the greater New York City area. She completed her MPA internship this summer at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.  Samantha graduated cum laude from Duke University in 2015 with a dual Bachelor of Science in biology and evolutionary anthropology. She was the recipient of Duke’s 2015 Maggie Schneider Award for Excellence in Marine Biology.
