Biography

Prior to Princeton, Sam served as the policy director of the Orrin G. Hatch Foundation – a national think tank devoted to advancing bipartisan policy solutions. Before joining the Hatch Foundation, he was an executive speechwriter at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he provided strategic communications support to the Chamber President, CEO, and other senior leadership staff. Before joining the Chamber, Samuel worked for several years on Capitol Hill, where he was the chief speechwriter to Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT). Over the course of his career, Sam's writing on behalf of various clients has been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, Time, RealClearPolitics, Sports Illustrated, and U.S. News & World Report. He has likewise written over 400 speeches, including Senator Hatch’s eulogy for the funeral of Muhammad Ali – an event that was viewed by more than 220 million people worldwide. He has also published several op-eds under his own name, including pieces in Newsweek, The Hill, and National Review. He graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2014.
