Biography

Susan was born in NYC, with her upbringing split between Cairo, Egypt, and New Jersey. Growing up between two hemispheres sparked her interest in politics, identity, and human rights. After graduation, she jumped on the 2016 campaign trail, working on several campaigns throughout the country. After the election, she shifted to policy work and joined the New Jersey State Assembly as a policy advisor. She managed a policy portfolio centered around labor, commerce, and criminal justice. In 2019, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to join the Democratic National Convention Committee to oversee volunteer recruitment and management. In her spare time, she volunteers with New Leaders Council, a nonprofit that trains young progressive leaders. Her career has focused on increasing civic engagement and creating progressive policies. Susan completed her summer internship with the Electronic Frontier Foundation. At Princeton, she hopes to learn how to craft fair and transparent technology policy that serves the interests of the public. She is curious about the intersection of technological privacy and international relations, especially how it intersects with security policy. Susan loves learning new languages, reading new books, and pining over the day she can get a dog.
