Gizem Sucuoglu
Biography
Gizem has been working for the United Nations on conflict prevention and peacebuilding since 2015, most recently as the Peace and Development Adviser at the regional office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. In her previous role at the Peacebuilding Support Office at U.N. Headquarters, she worked on peacebuilding in the Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, Southeastern Europe, Southern Caucasus, and Central Asia. She worked on various reform and review processes, including the 2015 and 2020 reviews of the U.N.'s peacebuilding architecture and the Secretary-General's peace and security reform. She spent a year as a Senior Program Manager at New York University's Center on International Cooperation, working on the World Humanitarian Summit among other issues. Prior to that, she held diplomatic postings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tel Aviv, and Afghanistan with the Turkish Foreign Service. Gizem likes traveling the world with her spouse, Jeremy, and three-year-old daughter, Ada. Gizem is a long distance runner and is looking forward to resuming her social life in a post-COVID world.
