Biography

Vaani was born and raised in New Delhi, India. She has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. Prior to attending SPIA, she worked at two education nonprofits in India that motivated her policy interest in the barriers to quality school education in low-income countries. She began her exploration at the grassroot level, as a Teach for India fellow, teaching elementary school students in a low-income community in Mumbai, India. Most recently, as a project manager at Central Square Foundation, she has worked on system-level interventions in improving the reliability of administrative data, as well as supported India’s Ministry of Education in drafting guidelines for inclusive education. At Princeton, Vaani hopes to acquire a deeper understanding of public policy and administration and a training in designing evidence-based and contextually-appropriate solutions. Outside the classroom, Vaani is a certified yoga teacher, a novice climber, and a compulsive planner.
