Yamini was raised in New Delhi, India and completed her Bachelor of Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering in 2001. After being selected through campus placements, she worked for the next six years in Bangalore in the Information Technology sector, a year with Infosys Technologies followed by five years with SAP Labs India. Yamini joined the Indian Administrative Service in 2008 and has been serving the Government of Odisha, India in various capacities. She served as District Collector and Magistrate in some of the most challenging districts with areas as large as 8500 sq km and populations as high as 1.5 million. Upon completion of her field postings, she opted to work in public health specializing in universal health coverage. Ever since the pandemic of COVID-19 started, Yamini has been serving in a significant leadership role. As Managing Director of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited with an annual budget of around 10 billion INR, she is heading procurement of medical supplies for all hospitals under the Government of Odisha. After graduating from Princeton, she intends to return to India and work more deeply towards strengthening universal health coverage in the country. Yamini and her husband Sarthak, who is from the Indian Police Service, are proud parents to two children – an 11-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. In her free time, Yamini enjoys reading and cooking the favorite dishes of her children.
