A native of eastern Kansas, Zach has been a political and policy advisor to Democratic candidates and elected officials since graduating from UCLA in 2016. Zach’s work has focused on bridging the urban-rural political divide through better economic and agriculture policy, most recently as the executive director of Kansas’ largest public employees union and the political director for Barbara Bollier’s 2020 campaign for U.S. Senate. Over the summer, he enjoyed quality time with his dog Rosie (and her mom, his partner Annie), deciphering bluegrass guitar runs, and clenching his teeth at Kansas City Royals games. After graduating from SPIA, Zach plans to work with leaders in government to better the international food system and improve the lives of rural Americans.
