The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination's Program on Religion, Diplomacy and International Relations (PORDIR) will host Ambassador Christoph Heusgen as guest speaker at the PORDIR student fellows meeting on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. The Office of Religious Life and the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies will co-sponsor. Participation in this event is open to all; registration required.


About the Speaker

Christoph Heusgen has been serving as the Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations in New York since July 2017. Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Heusgen was Director General and Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel (2005-2017). From 1999 to 2005, he served as Director (as of 2005 Deputy Director-General) and Head of the Policy Unit of High Representative Javier Solana in the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union from 1999 to 2005. Ambassador Heusgen has also held several posts at the German Foreign Office since he joined the foreign service in 1980.
