The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs has named three University graduates to its Advisory Council. Robert Doar ’83, Chris Lu ’88, and J. Nealin Parker, MPA ’08 are the newest members of the alumni body that counsels Dean Amaney Jamal and her staff.

Doar has served as the president of the American Enterprise Institute since 2019 after joining the organization in 2014. While at AEI, he has served as a co-chair of the National Commission on Hunger and as a lead member of the AEI-Brookings Working Group on Poverty and Opportunity. Prior to his time with the institute, Doar spent more than 20 years in leadership positions in the social service programs of New York state and New York City. He holds a bachelor’s in history from Princeton.

Lu, the James R. Schlesinger Distinguished Professor at the University of Virginia's Miller Center, was the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations for management and reform from 2022 to 2025. After leading President Obama’s transition team, he served in the administration as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Labor, the White House Cabinet Secretary and assistant to the president, and the co-chair of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Lu majored in SPIA and earned a law degree from Harvard.

Parker, the founder and a former co-director of Princeton SPIA’s Bridging Divides Initiative, is the inaugural executive director of Common Ground USA. She previously served as chief of staff at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and as acting director of the Office of Transitional Initiatives at the U.S. Agency for International Development. In addition to the Master in Public Affairs she earned at SPIA, Parker holds a bachelor’s in religious studies from the University of Virginia.

“The diverse backgrounds and perspectives that Robert, Chris, and Nealin bring to the School will be invaluable as we continue to showcase to our students the many pathways to public service,” Jamal said. “I am grateful for their willingness to serve Princeton SPIA.”
