Writing Internship: Summer 2020
The Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs is seeking an intern for its Office of Communications and Public Affairs. The intern will serve as an editorial assistant for the School’s annual report and will be responsible for writing news and feature articles, award briefs and social media posts for non-technical audiences, and assisting with outreach strategies. Princeton Researchers Awarded Funding for Innovative Education Research Projects
Several researchers based at Princeton University will receive funding to work on innovative, cross-disciplinary education research projects over the next two years.Nearly $300,000 was awarded by the Overdeck Education Innovation Fund to Mingyu Chen, Edward Felten, Jennifer Jennings, Adam Kapor, Christopher Neilson, and Olga Russakovsky.The Overdeck Innovation Fund was created by the Overdeck Family Foundation, which donated more than $1 million to the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs to support creative research projects and programs addressing important issues in education.Funds will be distributed for the projects below. …

Guess Receives Research Funding to Study Misinformation, "Fake News"
Sharing “fake news” happens with the click of a button, leaving researchers curious about who is sharing it and why. Professor Andrew Guess will seek to better understand this phenomenon using funding from the Social Science Research Council (SSRC).The new research grant will give Guess and his collaborators an opportunity to analyze an unprecedented dataset of shared URLs made available by Facebook and Social Science One. Woodrow Wilson School Stands “In Service to the Nation and Humanity”
Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs (WWS) has unveiled a mission statement designed to convey the School’s purpose, values, and ethos. Written collaboratively by the WWS faculty, the statement is the culmination of a months-long discovery process. WWS faculty, administrative leadership, students, alumni, and some University Trustees were invited to share thoughts through focus groups and a formal survey, with the submissions formulating the statement’s themes. Owen Zidar was among the 126 researchers from more than 60 research institutions in the United States and Canada named as 2020 Sloan Research Fellows. He joins Aleksandr Logunov, S. Modernizing Congress: Task Force Suggests Innovative Recommendations
Concerns about the state of Congress have sparked a number of reform efforts. Among these was the creation of a new Congressional committee: the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress.To contribute to this effort, the American Political Science Association created the Task Force Project on Congressional Reform, which was co-chaired by Frances E. A fund offered through Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs will support creative, interdisciplinary research projects, and programs addressing important issues in education.In the second year of this award, the Overdeck Education Innovation Fund will award up to $350,000 for multiple faculty and student research projects and/or programs on education. Steven Petric has been named director of graduate admissions at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, effective July 15. A proud Wisconsin native and an alumnus of the School’s mid-career program, Petric’s wide-ranging work in public and international affairs has prepared him to identify graduate students who will excel in public service.
