Building Peace in Colombia: Lessons from Medellin and Antioquia

Sergio Fajardo, former governor of Antioquia, Colombia, and former mayor of Medellín, will present a public talk, “Building Peace in Colombia: Lessons from Medellín and Antioquia,” at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Bowl 016, Robertson Hall, on the Princeton University campus.

Sergio Fajardo holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was  a mathematics professor in the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, before leaving academia to pursue a career in politics. Fajardo served as mayor of Medellín from 2004 until 2007, and he was named “Best Mayor in Colombia” at the end of his term.

Fajardo ran for vice president of Colombia in the 2010 election, and he served as governor of Antioquia, Colombia from 2012 until 2015. At the conclusion of his term as governor, he achieved accolades as “Best Governor in Colombia.”
