Palaniappan Chidambaram is one of India’s most experienced and recognized political leaders. Elected Member of Parliament in 1984, Mr Chidambaram has served as Union minister in the cabinets of Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao, and Manmohan Singh, and has held some of the most senior ministerial portfolios. He was India’s Finance Minister from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2012 to 2014; and from 2008 to 2012, he was Home Minister. Known for his analytic rigor and forensic argumentation, Mr Chidambaram is the author of several books and is a regular columnist in the Indian press.
