Auri Minaya
Biography
Auri was raised in the Dominican Republic, where she majored in economics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. After three years of experience in corporate finance and data analysis, she switched to the public sector where she joined the consulting team of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development and later served at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Her work included the design of sectorial studies for educational reform, research to conduct the impact of technology in the labor market and participation in the design of large-scale policies related to the COVID-19 crisis and post-lockdown economic recovery. The latter included essential research for policymakers regarding social programs, sectorial reopening protocols, and movement restrictions measures, as well as an active participation in the design of the country’s 2021-2024 National Industrialization Plan. During the summer of 2022, Auri worked as a short-term consultant with The World Bank in Washington. At Princeton, Auri hopes to explore the interface between industrial policy and labor economics. After graduation, she hopes to work on policies promoting inclusive economic development for Dominican Republic and keep discovering new places.
