Biography

Hua was born and raised in Beijing, China. She is a China and U.S. trained lawyer. Hua worked on corporate transactions for over a decade before she moved to the U.S. in 2014. Since then she has been working for Bristol Myers Squibb on R&D related legal matters. Outside her legal profession, Hua worked as a tireless advocate for her husband Xiyue Wang’s freedom, when he was unlawfully imprisoned by the Iranian government. Xiyue is a Ph.D. candidate in history at Princeton University’s History Department. He was released through a U.S.-Iran prisoner swap in December, 2019. Hua is interested in the pressing problems in global health and related public policy reforms, legal and political issues on China related trade and investment, and all Iran related political conundrums confronting policy makers. Hua is pivoting a career change towards international relations and/or health policy. In her spare time, Hua is also a painter and illustrator. She enjoys mountain hiking with her family and friends.
