Jordan Arnold
Biography
Born and raised in Lexington, Virginia, Jordan attended the University of Virginia and graduated in 2019 with a degree in political and social thought and economics. Inspired by the government-owned internet network in her hometown of Lexington, she wrote her senior thesis on government-owned networks and their impact on rural communities. After graduation, Jordan joined the College Advising Corps and spent two years as a college adviser at a small, public high school in Appalachia, where she helped low-income and first-generation students navigate the college application process. As a college adviser during the pandemic, she saw firsthand how a lack of affordable, reliable internet access disadvantages students in every aspect of their education. She also worked as a research associate for the Benton Institute for Broadband and Society, researching and writing about broadband competition, precision agriculture, and digital equity. In her free time, Jordan likes running slowly, reading, and getting to the genius level in the New York Times Spelling Bee puzzle.
