Jack Wenye Diao
Biography
"Believe you can, and you're halfway there." Ever since reading about the energetic Theodore Roosevelt and his larger-than-life accomplishments, Jack was sparked to pursue the Strenuous Life – one of overcoming challenges through self-betterment, discipline, grit, and serving the greater good. Having long admired Roosevelt’s unwavering dedication to the public interest (including fighting the corrupt and powerful trusts of his day to protect ordinary working Americans), Jack began his career as a CPA working in public finance, where he has led projects promoting fiscal responsibility, small business support, poverty reduction, and the COVID-19 relief response. Throughout his career in public finance and volunteer experience in leading fundraising initiatives for United Way, he has witnessed first-hand the crucial importance of having well-designed economic and fiscal policies, as well as the compounded impacts they will have in the long run. During his graduate studies, Jack will focus on open economy macroeconomics, international finance, and econometrics. This past summer, he completed his MPA internship with The World Bank. He is determined to help build economic and fiscal policies that foster long-term prosperity, stability, and opportunity. Jack holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from McGill University, and enjoys reading non-fiction and staying fit.
