Joshua Heupel
Biography
Born and raised on a small walnut and almond farm in California's Central Valley, Josh has always been exposed to environmental and agricultural policy. He earned a B.S. in agricultural business and political science from Fresno State in 2023, where his dual honors theses focused on California's historical water rights effect on underserved communities and the future of California's regulation of fumigants. During his undergraduate career, Josh interned for Congressman David Valadao and Congressman Jimmy Panetta, conducted research for the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, participated in the Public Policy and International Affairs Junior Summer Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, was a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship, and was the President's Undergraduate Medalist at Fresno State. This past summer, Josh worked as a Yale Environmental Fellow at Freshwater Future, researching policies in the Great Lakes region related to privatization of water utilities. Following his studies at Princeton, Josh hopes to work within state and federal government to support environmental and agricultural policy innovation. In his free time, Josh is usually reading, cycling, playing pc games, and drinking way too much coffee.
