Joscelyn Garcia
Biography
The daughter of Mexican immigrants, Joscelyn was born and raised in the outskirts of Chicago. She attended Tufts University, where she earned a B.A. in international relations and minors in Latin American studies and Chinese. Upon graduating in 2016, Joscelyn headed to Taitung, Taiwan, where she was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at an elementary school. Afterward, she spent a year as a Princeton in Latin America Fellow in Villa El Salvador, Lima, Peru. There, she served as the Program Director at the nonprofit Building Dignity, a local community center that provides free educational programs and supports local development projects. To spend more time with family, Joscelyn then came back to her hometown and later moved to Chicago where she worked at World Relief, a nonprofit serving immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. She completed her MPA internship with International Planned Parenthood Federation Western Hemisphere Region (IPPFWHR) focused on DEI work. Her interests lie in education, migration, and gender policy. Joscelyn considers herself an adventurous foodie and enjoys traveling, dancing, and watching movies.
