Biography

Kelsey is originally from Apex, North Carolina, and came to Princeton from Washington, D.C., after four years in the United States Senate. Most recently, she was a professional staff member on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee for Ranking Member Richard Burr. Passionate about education policy, she was responsible primarily for the Ranking Member's K-12 education portfolio. In this capacity, Kelsey handled and negotiated bills that the Ranking Member introduced or engaged with, as well as advised the Senator and other Senate staff on K-12 legislation and regulatory developments. Prior to transitioning to Senator Burr's HELP Committee staff, she worked in Senator Burr's personal office handling various domestic policies and serving the constituents of her home state. Kelsey graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with highest honors, where she proudly cheered on the 2017 Men's Basketball Team to a National Championship. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys going on runs at an admittedly leisurely pace, cooking new recipes with friends, and watching the Tar Heels - whether in person, or on TV.
